What is a Sibling Support Group?
The Sibling Support Group provides siblings of children with a range of diagnoses the opportunity to obtain peer support and education within a social and recreational context. This program acknowledges that being the brother or sister of an individual(s) with special needs can be difficult and provides an opportunity for children in similar circumstances the ability to relate to and support one another.
What are the Goals?
Goals are to help siblings build empathy skills, to give them a safe place to express their feelings; to make each individual feel valued, and to provide them with a network of friends.
What are the Duration?
Six sessions with sessions lasting approximately five hours each.
